My Steps for Decoupage

(Doesn't matter if glass, wood, metal or plastic)

  1. Clean the piece (Rubbing Alcohol works well on glass), Dry

  2. Chalk Paint (Enamel Spray Paint on metal), Dry

  3. 2nd coat of paint, Dry

  4. Sand lightly to liking.

  5. Wipe with dry cloth to get sand dust off.

  6. Separate napkins into 1 ply.

  7. Use a wet artist brush to outline the area you want to use.

  8. Pull excess napkin off that you outlined.

  9. Attach the napkin with Mod Podge (dishwasher safe), (wood/ metal use Polycrylic, using a 1/2" or 1" brush. Dry.

  10. Use cling wrap to gently remove wrinkles. (some wrinkles will tighten up as this dries.)

  11. Repeat 2 more times. Mod Podge or Polycrylic.

    NOTE: Don't get the Mod Podge wet for 4 weeks, Damp cloth is ok. Never soak in water.
